Dear Charlotte..

What I would tell my younger self

__________

I have seen a few of these posts recently and I thought why not give it a go with January being all about reflection. Now I am only at the young age of twenty four but I think I have learnt so much throughout the years and wouldn't it have been just lovely to have some wise words whilst growing up?! Because let's be honest, growing up is really hard. So if I could transport back in time, this would be my advice;

Stop worrying. Just stop. Worrying won't help anything and everything will always turn out OK. Everything may not always go to plan, but unfortunately that's life. You'll learn to deal with it and you'll get through it so don't spend time and energy worrying about things out of your control!

Don't let anyone make you feel like you can't be yourself. There are a lot of people that are not going to be supportive and make you feel pretty shitty but don't listen to these people and let them make you feel like you can't do something or shouldn't speak your mind. One day you'll be in a job where having an opinion is very important!

It is actually ok to fail. You aren't going to be perfect at everything [even though you'd like to be!] You are going to make millions of mistakes. You aren't always going to get the grades you want in school, friendships will crumble and relationships won't be everything you thought they would be. But that's part of growing up and you'll learn from this.

Always smile and stay positive. Even though sometimes, life is going to be hard, make sure you always plaster a smile on that face. It's vital to always have a positive outlook on life as this will affect your state and in the end, make you a better person.

Family and friends will always be your saviour. They will be your rocks so don't take them for granted. Some people will walk in and out for your life for a reason which will be a learning curve, but it's the people that are always there that you need to treasure.

Oh also, don't buy that boob tube from Tammy Girl, you'll look back and cringe, I promise you.

  7. Love this post Charlotte! I especially like the point about not being afraid to fail. It seems weird to say, but I think failure and learning to accept your own failure is so important in shaping yourself as a human being.
